The Clwydian Range forms part of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This Cycling Centre of Excellence combines incredible scenery with challenging routes and good facilities to keep you rested and refreshed.
Each year, this Clwyds hosts several large mountain biking events. Getting involved or just being a spectator are both brilliant options. Look out for the North Wales Downhill Series, the British Downhill Series or the MTB Marathon.
Located at the southeast end of the Clwydian Range is Coed Llandegla. With a mix of challenging climbs, technical single tracks and spine-tingling descents. This privately owned forest park attracts approximately 200,000 riders each year. Covering 2.5 square miles, it is one of the UK’s biggest and best mountain biking centres.
Beginner to Clwydian Cycling?
A good introduction to the Clwydians is the 12.2 km Ffridd Mountain Circular which is a way-marked MTB trail. It’s oscillating with a good grin factor from its high speed descent. Plus it has some excellent views and nearby facilities.
Looking for something more undulating?
Plan a circuit from Coed Moel Famau to take in the outstanding views of North Wales. Alternatively the Cilcain Short boasts views of the Clwydian range and the Vale of Clwyd towards Snowdonia. Ride North Wales offers 10 tried and tested routes to choose from with downloadable maps and guides.
